Welcome back to Term 3 and Happy New Year ! We have had an excellent first week back even though it has been cold and children have in particular enjoyed the increase in PE lessons. I know there has been much excitement about that in many classes. Please do ensure your child has their PE kit in school so they can access the PE lessons easily.
What an amazing final week of term we have had at New Horizons. I would firstly like to thank the EYFS team for a fantastic performance of the Nativity. Children sang their songs beautifully and it was lovely to see them acting confidently on the stage in all their costumes.
The New Horizons 'Twelve Days of Christmas' is fully underway. Children enjoyed wearing Christmas jumpers on Thursday as well as visiting St. Stephen's Church for our Christmas services with Father Barry. Thank you to the children who read their readings so well and we all enjoyed singing Christmas songs. We also saw the snowflakes hanging in the Church that we contributed to making. Children also learnt about advent and helped to light the Advent candle.
This week we have seen the start of all the Christmas events at New Horizons and in particular the Gingerbread making workshops that all children have taken part in. This has been really successful and children have really enjoyed this opportunity. Thank you to Mrs Wingrove in Oak class for organising this.
This week has been another busy week at New Horizons and now the excitement is starting to build in preparation for Christmas! At new Horizons there is a tradition of carrying out Christmas events and the '12 days of Christmas'. You can see below all the exciting events planned. There is an event scheduled for each day. In particular we are very excited that there will even be a visit from Santa on the last day of term !
This week has been TSAT Kindness week and children across the school and all the schools in the Trust have been thinking about ways to be kind to one another and spread kindness. In assembly on Monday children in Key Stage Two also learnt about the life of Mother Teresa and how she was a kind person who devoted her life to helping others. In Key Stage One children learnt about the importance of being a kind friend.
