School Update – Coronavirus (COVID-19)

Following the Government’s most recent Covid-19 update on Sunday 10th May it is important to note that there are no immediate changes in the education or child care provision made by schools.

Therefore, schools will continue to provide distance learning support for students and child care for Key Workers who have provided 24 hours notice of their intention to use the child care facility.

As you will be aware, the government has announced the expectation that Primary schools will begin a phased transition to school based learning from 1st June for Years R, 1 and 6.

We are working closely with the Local Authorities and the Department For Education to ensure the most effective and safe return to school for students and staff. We will be in contact you shortly to update you on our plans.

Please continue to check your mailboxes and this website for updates.

Thank you for your continued support.

Breakfast Club

We have a Breakfast Club that runs every school morning from 7.30am to 8.30am. Your child will enjoy a healthy breakfast, followed by games and activities before it’s time to start school. The cost of breakfast club is £2.50 per day which includes breakfast provided by Chartwells, this must be paid via ParentPay. You do not need to book in advance but if you intend to regularly use this service, please let us know via Reception so that we can ensure enough food is ordered for the kitchen.

After School Club

Stay and Play are an outside company that provide after school care from 3.00pm-6.00pm. For more information, follow this link: Stay & Play

Extra Curricular Clubs

We run a variety of extra curricular school clubs each term. Some of these are run voluntarily by the staff and others are provided by outside associations so may incur a charge.

Clubs finish at either 3.45pm, 4pm or 4.15pm depending upon the type of club and its provider.

A letter for available clubs is sent out each term. We always ensure that every child is allocated place in a club. Additional places will then be offered to the children after this allocation.

Examples of clubs that we have previously run are:

  • Cricket
  • Kung Fu
  • STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Maths)
  • Creepy Claws
  • Aim High Club
  • Cooking
  • Arts & Craft
  • Storytelling
  • Phonics
  • Football
  • Hockey
  • Maths
  • Dodgeball
  • Computing
  • EAL
  • Forest School
  • Eco Warriors

Children views and opinions have been obtained about the clubs provided in the past. The children particularly enjoyed dodgeball, STEM and animal clubs. Therefore Creepy Claws  have been invited back and STEM size increased so greater numbers of children can come along. In 2018-2019 we began ‘late lessons’ which are invite only. These clubs aim to support children with making excellent progress in reading and writing, and making sure all children reach their full potential. This have been hugely popular and really supported the children so we will be developing this further in 2019-2020 academic year.

Quotes from children about clubs:

Sam – “I go to Kung Fu and learn special moves. You can get different belt colours if you work hard.”

Ben – “I like that we can go to ICT and computing club at lunchtimes. It gives us something different to do with our friends.”

Isaac – “I like it when the football coaches work with us on the 3G pitch. We are really lucky to go on there.”
